Mamie and Grannie embodied intelligence, kindness, and critical thinking. You can imagine, then, the comfort we felt in visiting them. We’d share our worries—not small talk about the weather. We weren’t about to waste the chance to draw from their wisdom!
So we opened up about the little struggles of everyday life, and they had this gift of sending us back out with clearer minds and braver hearts. They didn’t tell us what to do—they reminded us how to think. A subtle, but vital nuance we hold on to.
What would Mamie have done? What would Grannie have said?
That’s where our étoile polaire and our North Star still shine.
